MRS. BRITTON PASSED AWAY EARLY TODAY

LIFELONG RESIDENT OF PUTNAM COUNTY LIVED NEAR FINCASTLE

Mrs. Mildred H. Britton, age 81 years, died at 12:45 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of her son, Harvey Britton of near Fincastle. She had been ill for about a week. Death was due to a heart ailment.

Mrs. Britton was born April 29, 1862 in Virginia, the daughter of Henry S. and Mary E. Pollard Akers. She was married September 20, 1879 to John W. Britton. Mrs. Britton, a lifelong resident of Putnam county, was a member of the Primitive Baptist church at Browns Valley.

Survivors are two sons, Harvey A. Britton of near Fincastle and Clay Britton of Indianapolis, two daughters-in-law, one granddaughter, Mrs. Wilbur Day of Hammond, one great grandson, Donald Day, a great granddaughter, Alice Ann Day, two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Angus of Mississippi and Mrs. Catherine Jarvis of Indianapolis and a brother, Joe Akers of Indianapolis.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Chastain Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Roachdale Cemetery. The services will be in charge of the Rev. C. L. Airhart. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:00 p.m. Saturday.  ---Submitted by John Hutchins
